Skype Find and Skype for iPhone - june

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008
will Skype for iPhone come out in June straight after the SDK launch? I hope that the Skype messaging service will still work even when the phone is in standby mode, and not in a Wi-Fi area. that will make it really useful, but it seems that when you hit the home key, Skype for iPhone will quit as all iPhone apps built with the new SDK seem to. shame.

Looks like Skype will be able to harness the VOIP facilities on the iPhone so long as the users are within a Wi-Fi zone... according to Apple, official apps can use VOIP so long as they are only in Wi-Fi hotspots, so as not to cripple the mobile networks with data traffic.

Skype for iPhone

Skype for iPhone looks promising with Skype Find, enabling you to search for Skype users within your Wi-Fi zone... which will be especially fun in the city where there will be lots of iPhone users... hopefully with Skype installed!
