According to the trustworthy source Macrumors.com we will see iTunes 7.6 coming out next week (probably right after Steve Jobs opening keynote of MacWorld Expo) and that it will have support for a new way of transferring DVD movies to iTunes. They have laid their hands on a Family Guy DVD that is intended for release on January 15 and the disc contains a file that requires iTunes 7.6

An anonymous mail (but my gut feeling is that it’s legit) we got today state that Steve Jobs will present a major upgrade of the iPhone software during his keynote on MacWorld where we will get new functions such as:
- Groundbreaking new games
- Camera video recording
- Flash support
- MMS capabilities
- Copy & Paste and more…
The iPhone hardware will also get a small upgrade with a new 16GB version and (finally!) 3G support for both the 8GB and 16GB version.

Looks like there might another major announcement at MacWorld. BGR says they’ve “confirmed” that Apple is launching a record label with Jay-Z, who’s set to step down from Def Jam. Jay-Z and Jobs are both brilliant businessmen, and the move would make sense on a number of levels: The labels almost view iTunes as a competitor now, the industry landscape is rapidly transforming, and whoever finds the magic formula for a new kind of label/distribution firm stands to make a lot of money as they establish the new paradigm of the industry. And iTunes already is something like a label. This could be megaton big, if the rumor is true. (bgr)

Macrumors is reporting that the rumoured ultraportable Macbook we’re hoping for at Macworld 08 is to have Multitouch trackpad and external optical. The optical makes sense, and is welcome. The Multitouch Trackpad rumour is a curiousity: Macbooks already use simple multitouch in trackpads for two-finger scrolling. Maybe a Leopard update will allow for things like zooming and swiping, like the iPhone.
