Looks like Skype will be able to harness the VOIP facilities on the iPhone so long as the users are within a Wi-Fi zone… according to Apple, official apps can use VOIP so long as they are only in Wi-Fi hotspots, so as not to cripple the mobile networks with data traffic.

Skype for iPhone looks promising with Skype Find, enabling you to search for Skype users within your Wi-Fi zone… which will be especially fun in the city where there will be lots of iPhone users… hopefully with Skype installed!

Looks like Apple’s servers are struggling with all the downloads… mind you… the SDK is over 2Gb!!…
